Walking Te Araroa was a great opportunity to raise money for a good cause. I’d initially looked at supporting a high profile national charity. However, after talking to various people I decided my efforts would be better served supporting a local group. Diane from the Cork & Keg in Renwick suggested I talk to Roslein Wilkes from the local RDA in Blenheim. After meeting some of the volunteers and hearing about the great work they do in the local community I decided to raise money exclusively for Marlborough RDA.
My initial goal was to raise $5,000 for the purchase of two new ponies. In the end, between online donations and the efforts of the locals at the Cork & Keg, we got pretty close with $4,400. That said, it’s never too late to make a donation!
